MSU Lady Bears Lead Memphis 32-25 At Halftime In WNIT
From players down on the court, to a double foul and an intentional foul, it's been a physical first half of basketball as the Lady Bears lead Memphis 32-25 in the second round of the WNIT at JQH Arena.
The Lady Bears jumped ahead 7-1 but Memphis got it tied 14-14 with 10:11 left in the half. The lead exchanged hands four times before the end of the half with bodies flying all over the court.
The Tigers' Jasmine Lee was called for an intentional foul with 6:12 on the clock. Jasmine Malone made two free throws to get the contest tied 19-19.
Just over a minute later, MSU's Jaleshia Roberson and Memphis' Danay Collier were called for a double foul.
Lee's layup with 4:14 remaining gave the Tigers a brief 24-22 lead before Christiana Shorter hit a shot, was fouled and made a free throw to give MSU a 25-24 lead with 4:04 left in the half.
Malone added a three pointer as Missouri State closed out a 7-0 run to end the half. She has ten points to lead all scorers. Shorter has eight points for the Lady Bears, while Lee has nine to lead Memphis.
MSU comes into the contest 23-8 overall, while Memphis is 25-7.The winner advances to the third round of the WNIT.
