From Press Release . . .

After Saturday, March 17th the volunteer reception center, located at First Baptist Church of Kimberling City (FBCKC), 2 Lakeshore Drive, Kimberling City, will be closed thus concluding the clean-up and debris removal projects in the area.  AmeriCorps pulled out of Stone County Friday, March 16th .  Now the rebuilding of homes and lives can begin in Stone County and Kimberling City area with the assistance of the Long-term Recovery Committee (LTRC).

Stone County has established a LTRC to help qualifying survivors with basic needs to re-establish/ rebuild their lives and homes when immediate assistance and resources have been depleted. This committee has trained case managers who will meet periodically with the tornado survivors to know their needs and help find the resources to meet those needs.  The LTRC will be housed at FBCKC, Lakeshore Drive. Those still needing assistance, after the tornado, can contact LTRC via phone at (417) 598-8865 or visit the LTRC location. The LTRC will be closed on Monday, March 19th. The LTRC’s operating hours are: Tuesday, March 20th – Friday, March 23rd from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., closed Saturday and Sunday, and open the week of March 25th-March 30th from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

If the phone line full or a call has been made after operating hours, an answering machine will be available for tornado survivors to leave a message containing their contact information.  The LTRC is here to help; a visit or call from someone needing assistance is very important to them. In order for a case manager to be assigned, contact information is crucial. Be prepared to give a full name, phone number, and address of property that was damaged. A case manager or another LTRC member will be in contact with the person requesting assistance in a timely manner.

The LTRC also has a general business contact number, (417) 598-8871, for experienced groups or individuals interested in helping with, the next phase, rebuilding homes and lives. Also, the LTRC is taking monetary donations to help with the long-term needs of the 2/29 tornado survivors.
