9-Year-Old Shot, Wounded In St. Louis County
(AP) - Police in St. Louis County are investigating the shooting of a 9-year-old boy by his 10-year-old brother as an apparent accident.
KMOV-TV reports the younger boy was in stable condition at a hospital Monday afternoon, several hours after the shooting.
Authorities said the boy was conscious and breathing when emergency personnel arrived at the home in Jennings.
A family member said the boys found a loaded gun while adults in the home were out running an errand.
The relative says the 10-year-old accidentally shot the 9-year-old in the back, then put him in a bathtub to try to clean up the blood.
The adults returned home and quickly called 911.
