Police Arrest Man In Fatal Eastern Arkansas Stabbing

(AP) - Police have arrested a man for a fatal stabbing in Jonesboro.

Officers took Luis Serano into custody Friday in connection with the death of 42-year-old Mantel Mendez, whose body was discovered in a street on Tuesday.

Authorities say he suffered a knife wound.

Jonesboro police and the Mexican Consulate worked together to notify Mendez's family of his death.

A jailer at the Craighead County Detention Center said Serano remained in custody Saturday night, but he didn't know if he had retained an attorney.
