Springfield Named A Leader In Job Growth

A new study ranks Springfield among the top three cities in America for creating new jobs. Using information from government sources, researchers at 24-7 Wall Street say the population has remained steady in the last 12 months while area employers have added almost ten thousand new jobs. The report cites a quality workforce and low cost for doing business as reasons for the expansion.

The unemployment rate has dropped to 7.4 percent and city sales tax revenue is up by ten percent. 

Other cities on the list are Fort Wayne, Indiana ,followed by Pueblo, Colorado, at number two. Bakersfield, California, and Miami, Florida ,round out the top five .
