(AP) - A St. Joseph police officer is slightly injured after an apparently drunken driver crashed into his squad car while other officers were in pursuit.
The St. Joseph News-Press reports the driver who struck the squad car around 2 a.m. was believed to have been involved in a disturbance to which police were responding.
Police say the 31-year-old man struck a parked car, ran several stop signs and attempted to make a turn at a high rate of speed when he struck the police vehicle.
The man, who has not been identified, was arrested for driving while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license.
The officer was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries and released. The driver was admitted to the hospital and was reported in stable condition.
