Police: Heroin Increase In Jefferson City
(AP) - Law enforcement agencies in the Jefferson City area say there appears to be an increase in heroin and opiate related overdoses.
The Cole County sheriff's office and Jefferson City Police Department say they plan to closely examine the data about the heroin problem and will eventually host a public forum.
The announcement about the anti-heroin effort came as charges were filed Wednesday against a Jefferson City man and woman for attempting to distribute heroin and for possessing various other illegal drugs.
A 1-week-old baby at their home was placed in the custody of the state Family Services Division.
