What first came in as a 911 call about someone being hit by a car on the west edge of Springfield may have started with a case of road rage.

Police Lieutenant Roger Moore tells KTTS officers arrived in the 700 block of West Hazelnut near Mount Vernon and found two people hurt and witnesses said they had been dragged by a car.

He says it doesn't appear their clothing got caught on the car, but rather the victims were hanging onto the car as the driver was trying to get away.

The car was found later, and the two people were treated at the hospital for minor abrasions.

Moore says officers are still sorting out the details.
