Tony LaRussa Retires After 33 Seasons As Major League Manager
He's going out on top!! St. Louis Cardinals Manager Tony LaRussa has retired after 33 years as a major league manager, the last 16 with the Cardinals.
The club called a hastily arranged news conference at 9am this morning at Busch Stadium to make the announcement.
Cards Chairman Bill DeWiitt, Jr. says "Tony leaves behind a legacy of success that will always be remembered as one of the most successful eras in Cardinals history. I knew this day would come. I just hoped that it wouldn't."
