1000 Workers Will Lose Their Jobs In Fort Smith
1000 people in Fort Smith Arkasas will be out of a job by next year. Whirlpool says that it will close its plant there by mid-2012, but promised to train employees for new jobs. However, the company did not say if they would help them find jobs. The United Steelworkers Union representing the workers says it will press the company for an appropriate severance package.
