Battlefield Fire Asking For Tax Increase
The Battlefield Fire Protection District will be asking voters for a tax increase next April. Chief Brian Newberry tells KTTS News if the 25 cent levee increase passes, home and business owners could see an equal reduction in their fire insurance premiums with a lower ISO rating. Since the last rating in 2001 , the department has gone from all volunteers to a completely full time operation. The population has risen by more than 130 percent and calls for service are up by 250 percent.
