Wal-Mart "Neighborhood" Market Under Construction
The first of three new Wal-Mart "neighborhood" markets is now under construction in Springfield.
Workers are preparing the site at Glen stone and Bennett for the early 2012 opening.
Other locations are planned for Republic and Golden in southwest Springfield, and at Campbell and El Camino Alto near the new Sam's Club.
The neighborhood markets are smaller versions of Wal-Mart supercenters and sell mostly groceries and basic household items.
