New Jersey Church Will Reverse Sunday Offering
(AP) - When the offering plate is passed this Sunday at Liquid Church in New Jersey, worshipers won't be asked to give, but to receive. Pastor Tim Lucas says each worship per will be invited to take out an envelope that has $10, $20 or $50 inside. He says a total of $30,000 will be given away at the church's three locations near New York City.
Lucas calls it "a spiritual stimulus" and says he'll challenge recipients to use the money creatively to show God's love to someone in need. At a time when people are recovering from flooding, looking for work and looking to Washington for answers, Lucas says he'll remind people that the money in the envelopes says "In God We Trust."
