Commissioners Miss Sales Tax Deadline
Voters in Greene County will not see a quarter percent sales tax for law enforcement on the November ballot.
Commissioners missed Monday's deadline to place the question before the electorate.
Presiding Commissioner Jim Viebrock agrees there is a need to ease overcrowding at the jail and to hire more corrections officers for the sheriff's office, but he doesn't think voters would approve the issue.
The earliest the proposed tax could appear on the ballot would be in February.
