Man From Richland Killed In High Speed Police Chase Near Reno Nevada
(AP) - The Nevada Highway Patrol has released the names of the two men killed during a gun battle and head-on crash in Fallon but still don't know why the one who led police on a high-speed chase was fleeing the officers.
Trooper Chuck Allen says the suspect killed on Thursday after exchanging gunfire and colliding with another car was 22-year-old Eric J. Allen of Peyton, Colo. The innocent victim in the other car was 75-year-old Walter A. Summers of Richland, Mo.
Allen said evidence at the scene indicated Allen shot himself after the crash. But he said on Friday the cause of death will not be known until the Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office completes an autopsy. Allen said an investigation is continuing into what prompted Allen to flee.
