Water Patrol Says Have A Safe Holiday Weekend
Memorial Day weekend brings people out by the thousands to Missouri's lakes and rivers, many for the first time. Water Patrol Sergeant Gerry Callahan says you need to remember that recent rains have made waterways higher than normal. The water level at Table Rock Lake is near record stages for the second time this year. This is causing higher than normal amounts of debris to be floating in the lake.
Callahan says he expects a busier than usual weekend, but there's enough officers to cover the major lakes and rivers. He also says do not get in a boat without a lifejacket, and if alcohol HAS to be part of your weekend, make sure you designate someone captain of your boat, someone who WILL NOT be drinking.
