Auto Parts Plant To Bring 300 Jobs To Kansas City
(AP) - An auto components company plans to open a $7.6 million plant in Kansas City that is expected to bring 300 jobs to the area in the next five years.
Flex-N-Gate, based in Urbana, Ill., will assemble bumpers for the Chevrolet Malibu line at the Fairfax plant in Kansas City, Kan.
The plant will be in the East Bottoms area of Kansas City. Plant manager Adam Hoffman says the average starting salary will be $32,000.
The company's products include metal and plastic automotive components and assemblies such as bumpers, grilles, hinges and running boards.
The Kansas City Star reports that Missouri is providing $1.3 million in assistance through the Enhanced Enterprise Zone, job training programs and an employee recruitment program.
