More Severe Storms Possible
It will be sunny, windy and warm in the Springfield area today, with highs approaching 75.
The weekend could be another story.
The National Weather Service says showers and thunderstorms are possible for both Saturday and Sunday, with cooler temperatures. Lows Saturday night into Sunday morning will be in the 40's. Sunday's high will only be in the lower 50's.
The National Weather Service says a cold front pushing through the area late Saturday into the evening. Storms are expected into south central Missouri ahead of the advancing cold front. Some strong to severe storms will be possible with large hail and damaging winds the primary risk.
Flooding will continue on some area streams, rivers and flood prone areas due to the recent heavy rainfall. Locations along the White River and Lake Taneycomo will continue to see high water levels as the Corps of Engineers continues to release water at Table Rock Lake Dam.
