Flash Flood Watch For The Ozarks
A flash flood watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for the Ozarks.
A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding.
EXCEPT FOR HEAT RELATED FATALITIES, MORE DEATHS OCCUR FROM FLOODING THAN ANY OTHER WEATHER HAZARD. THE OZARK AREA IS PARTICULARLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO THE DANGERS OF FLASH FLOODING DUE TO THE HILLY TERRAIN AND NUMEROUS LOW WATER CROSSINGS.
Nearly half of all flood fatalities are vehicle related.
Never drive through flooded roads. Road beds may be washed out under those flood waters.
IT ONLY TAKES ONE TO TWO FEET OF WATER TO FLOAT VEHICLES INCLUDING TRUCKS AND SUVS.
