Flames Shoot Through Home in North Springfield

Springfield firefighters say a grease fire that got out of control is being blamed for flames consuming a home on Eldon near Division this morning. Crews on the scene say the man who lives there told them he was cooking something, then turned his back for a minute. He also says it took 20 minutes to call 9-1-1 because his cell phone was dead. When firefighters got there, flames were shooting out of the house. The middle part of the roof collapsed. No one was hurt.
