Heavy rain and hail hit the Ozarks Thursday night. There have been reports of golf ball sized hail in Republic, and pea sized hail near Campbell and James River in south Springfield. Flash flooding forced Nixa police to close down Highway 160 between Aldersgate and Northview. Many cars have been stalling out in high water. Christian County emergency management director Phil Amtower is asking drivers to be watchful of crews clearing debris. Tornado sirens wailed in Southern Greene County Thursday night. The assistant director of Greene County emergency management, Larry Woods, says there are several road closings. Officials are monitoring rising waters at Fassnight and Jordan Creeks.
