It's a new year- and you may want a new job. Is your resume computer ready?
Landing a job in this economy is tough. It's even tougher if a manager NEVER gets to see how qualified you really are because of the wrong terminology listed on your resume.
As we all know, the most popular way to apply for a job is via the Internet or through a companies website. Those websites now use a computer program that will get rid of resumes with certain Buzz Words. Buzz Words are words that don't really showcase YOU and your skills. They are filler words that everyone uses. They are dated. They make your resume obsolete What are these words?
Here is a short list which I got from the Forbes Website
Words to avoid are : " Team player, People Person, Costumer Focused, Seasoned, Well Versed, Energetic, and even Enthusiastic."
What else do you need to omit on your resume? Save space by getting rid of "References available upon request." Obviously the company will get your references if they are interested in hiring you
Good luck!
