Remember when you were younger, just learning to read, and how books opened a new world to you. I remember being Nancy Drew or the Bobsey Twins myself trying to find clues to missing items that my family misplaced. I also loved reading Beverly Clarey's 'The Mouse and the Motorcycle" How smart was that mouse? Reading so important for everyone. I found this cool story about Taylor Swift and what she is doing to help try to encourage reading.
If you teach at home or are a school teacher. Check this out October 24, 2012.
Taylor Swift is taking time out of her busy album release week for Red next month to encourage kids across the country to read. Taylor will host a live classroom web cast on October 24 in partnership with Scholastic Read Every Day global literacy campaign. The web-cast starts at 1 p.m. CT, that day. Registration is open to teachers only at Scholastic.com/ReadEveryDay.
