Kids are back in school- that means the weekends really have to count- I have compiled a bunch of fun family events for you and the kids. Check it out and enjoy those little ones....    Summer


WEEKEND UPDATE for August 17-19 2012


Ernte-fest kicks in on Friday and Saturday at 4:30….  A Beer Garden, German Food, Polka Dancing, live music… Free admission but parking is 5 dollars and doesn’t include meal.

Insect-O-Rama 6:30 to 9:30 at the Springfield Conservation Center.  Come celebrate the insects with insect specialists!  All ages are welcome its FREE

Murder Mystery Dinner- Pythian Castle. The fun begins at 7pm and lasts until 10pm with a Ghost Tour. Check them out at

End of Summer Bash at the Library Center begins at 6pm and it’s free for kids in grades 6 thru 12th.

Party in the Parking Lot at PFI- tickets are still available for “The Eli Young Band, The Farm, and Jason Plummer. The gates open at 6pm.


The American Cancer Society 2012 Cattle Barons Ball-5:30 at the Darr Agricultural Center.  Live western entertainment, gourmet cuisine, Vegas style gaming, silent and live auction, livestock and bull auction and midway games… Need tickets 447-1483

Cruisin’ USA Summer Concert Don’t miss Bob and the Bobcats at 6pm in Nixa. It’s FREE

Moonlight bike ride 7pm- Discovery Center parking lot- the party begins with music – get ready for root beer floats, costume contest, and a team challenge. Bike line up for the ride begins at 8:15. Pre-registration is 20 dollars or 25 day of.  Call 862-9910.

Movies at Founders Park- Sherlock Holmes 2; a Game of Shadows. Pg 13 the movie begins at dusk- get free tickets at Doling and Chesterfield Family Centers or the Media Com ice Park.

Don’t miss the Luau Fundraiser to benefit the Alzheimer Association at Lakewood Assistant living. Just off S. Campbell on Lakewood…  From 4 to 6:30 enjoy prizes games, cool deserts and a hula hoop contest… Bid on silent auction- all money raised goes to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Association.
