I truly believe that the most important gift a parent can give to their child is the belief that they can do anything.....On that note.....
Actor and funnyman Jim Carrey recieved a honorary degree of Doctor of Fine Arts from Iowa's Maharishi Univeristy of Management on Saturday. He offered some encouraging words of wisdom to the graduating class discussing the hardships his family faced growing up and all that he learned from his father, Percy Carrey, during that time.
Jim told the class....
"My father could have been a great comedian, but he didn't believe that that was possible for him, and so he made a conservative choice. Instead, he got a safe job as an accountant." He went on to say that his father eventually lost that job and added, "I learned many great lessons from my father, not the least of which was that you could fail at what you don't love, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love. Your job is not to figure out how it's going to happen for you, it's opening a door in your head, and when the door opens in real life, just walk through it."
Jim also told the crowd that the secret to success is "letting the universe know what you want and working toward it."
