Why the Deer-in-the-headlight look?

 So I'm enthusiastic about my great discovery and how it has worked wonders for me and what do I get?  Polite silence.  Glassy stares.  A change of subject!  WHY?  

I'm talking about "High Intensity Interval Training"  or HIIT.  Meaning, 30 second intervals of high intensity exersize (running, elyptical, rowing, whatever... you choose) followed by 90 seconds of same exersize at a slow pace.  Here's how I do it:

Using my treadmill, I warm up with 3 1/2 minutes of walking at 3 to 4 miles per hour.  I then start my intervals:  30 seconds of running at 8 mph, followed by 90 seconds of walking at 4 mph.  I do 8 or 9 of these intervals and then I cool down by walking at 3 mph for another 3 or 4 minutes.  There, I'm done exersizing and it only took me a little over 20 minutes!  

I used to just walk, 3 miles or 45 minutes EVERY day.  But with HIIT, I only do this 3 times a week and the rest of the time I do a little resistance training using only my own body weight... a 15 minute routine.  AND, I have much better results at half the effort and time!  So yes, I am excited!

And there you go... I can see that stare from here...
