Things used to be so predictable... or so it seemed.
It started with a question from an 'out-of-towner' about the weather, "is this normal weather for February here?" Which led me to a pretty lengthy explanation that usually, weather in February is cold... you know, below freezing, snowy, cloudy... not the 60 degree sunny day that we were experiencing that day. But then, I had to stop midstream as the thought crossed my mind that I couldn't remember the last time we had a usual or normal weather pattern around here. One day it's beautiful and warm and the next we could have snow... or drought... or below zero temperatures... NO MATTER the month! Think about it... the weather is more UNpredicable than predictable... and I can't remember WHEN it behaved as it did in my childhood.
When I was a kid, you could count on a few heavy snowfalls every winter... ones where you were snowed in and out of school, but lately, we're lucky to get a dusting (or should I say, we ARE lucky to only get a dusting... sorry kids). And the warm days are more and more frequent. I'm not really complaining, I'm just thinking that the weather kind of represents life... life is never predictable... it's never the way you remember it from childhood or even a few years ago. It's constantly changing.
The moral? Remember the old saying, :in Missouri, if you don't like the weather just wait 15 minutes and it'll change... same goes for life. Have a good weekend...
