BUT, I loved them!
After the Oscar nominations were announced, I realized that I have only seen one of the movies nominated for Best Picture... "Lincoln." I did love it... a very insightful look into our 16th president. I felt a deeper understanding of what that period in our history really entailed. I thought Sally Field and Daniel Day-Lewis were wonderful, too. The rest? I haven't seen, so I can't say what I think...
That being said, I have to give a thumbs up to some movies that didn't make the list, but that I HAVE seen! Over the Christmas holiday, I had the opportunity to rent and watch a couple movies that I'm still thinking about... and really, that, to me, is the sign of a good movie, I can't stop thinking about it. So, here they are:
"Trouble With The Curve"... starring Clint Eastwood, Amy Adams and Justin Timberlake... John Goodman was also in the film. It was so good! I loved the characters and the story line and how great each actor carried out their roles. I'd go into more detail, but I don't want to ruin it for you in case you haven't seen it and might want to. If you haven't seen it, I'd strongly suggest it. In fact, the night I returned the DVD to the Redbox, I told everyone else in line that they should rent it!
"Peace, Love & Misunderstanding"... starring Jane Fonda, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Catherine Keener and a cast of others that I didn't recognize, BUT, they each played their roles to perfection! And the words of wisdom that Jane Fonda's character spouted at every opportunity... even when you were wondering, "how's she gonna explain this one?"... was amazing! Just a hint, Jane plays on old hippie grandmother and is simply marvelous! I loved this one so much that I watched it TWICE before returning it.
So, they may not be up for Oscars, but they were wonderful and I just wanted play a little Siskel and Ebert today...
