...with a teenager! Surprised we both survived!
Did the College Day trip with Ted last Friday... drove to Lawrence Kansas to visit KU. I know, I know, I know... Mizzou fans are having a fit, but he has dreamed of being a Jayhawk since he first realized what basketball was... and his dad went there, so he's kinda been brainwashed...
I digress... anyway, we got up at 4 a.m. in order to get there by 8:30. Left the house about 4:40 and he's already thinking Mom has screwed it all up... "aren't we cutting it close? Aren't we going to be late? Why didn't we leave earlier?"... that's how it started out. Well, Mom does know how to do a google map and knew that the drive was probably 3 1/2 hours and with driving in the wee hours of the morning, we would be fine... and we were, by the way, going the speed limit, too, I might add.
It was a whirlwind of sessions on everything from housing, to financing to studying abroad... and Ted was literally foaming at the mouth with anticipation. I did my best to stay quiet, but hey, I am me, and that's just a little too much to ask. I HAD to interact with people... I HAD to make a few jokes... I HAD to ask questions... and each time, I got THE LOOK. You know the one, "Mom, you're embarassing me" look. Man, I HATE that look! So by the end of that very long day, I was ready to kill him and he was ready to kill me. To top it all off, I had the audacity to ask for directions on the best route out of the campus... you would have thought I'd run naked through the streets!
SO.... glad that's over. I guess it's all a part of God's plan. If my teenager were nicer to me, I might not want him to go away to college... as it is right now, he can leave tomorrow! :)
Naw... he actually thanked me for driving him there and back and going through that process with him... he's really a pretty good kid. Guess I'll keep him... until graduation... hee, hee, hee!
