It's Big, It's Green, It's...

NOT the Incredible Hulk... although it could be!

It's time to 'green' up your Halloween... here are some ideas:

1.  Think through trick-or-treating.  Trick-or-treating is the best part of Halloween... and when choosing what to give out this Halloween, look for minimally packaged goodies to minimize the trash kids have to throw away.  Better yet, encourage your youngin's to trick-or-treat for a charitable cause.... collecting dry goods for a local food bank or spare change for a local charity.

2.  Swap costumes!  You don't want to be the same thing you were last year, but you don't have to run out and buy a new costume, how bout swapping with friends and family members and get some more use out of those before adding them to the landfill.

3.  Celebrate sustainably... if you're going to a haunted house or costume party, be sure to carpool with friends.  If you're hosting a party, use paperless invitations and choose organic, locally grown pumpkins.

4.  Better trick-or-treating bags... and they hold so much more... how 'bout pillow cases or reusable shopping bags instead of those plastic pumpkins or bags that can only be used one day a year.

Everything we do to help our earth ensures that it's healthy for our kids and grandkids for years to come... Happy Halloween!
