This year is off to a great start, musically. There are a few lesser known artists in particular that I think will all have big years. All 3 are very talented and all 3 have great singles to kick off 2013.
The 3 artists:
Lee Brice - I've always been team Lee Brice. I've been raving about his "Hard 2 Love" album since it was released last April. It's one of my top 5 albums of all time. He's already had a couple #1 hits off of it and I have very little doubt that his latest single will make it 3 in a row. That single is "I Drive Your Truck" and I've already seen several artists say this about the song, but I have to agree: It's the best song on the radio right now.
Kacey Musgraves - I have to come clean on this one. I wasn't crazy about "Merry Go Round" the first time I heard it. It took me a few listens before I realized it's brilliance. I really didn't start paying attention to it, until a friend of mine, whose musical opinion I trust, started talking about it. Then, I gave it another chance and I'm glad I did. It's different. It's awesome. Kacey Musgraves is awesome.
Thomas Rhett - Did you really think I wasn't going to mention Thomas Rhett? He's only been doing this for a year now & he's already one of my favorite artists. I'm way on board with "Beer With Jesus" and have been from the beginning. I realize some people don't agree with the title, so I'm not sure it'll top the charts, but it should. I can't wait for him to release a full album.
So, there you have it. 3 artists that I'm excited about this year. Be watching for these artists at award shows (If Lee Brice's "Hard 2 Love" doesn't win 'Album of the Year', it's the biggest scam ever). What artists are you excited about this year?
