And so it continues... Day 19 of No Shave November for St. Jude. Believe it or not, I'm starting to get this thing called a beard (pictured below). This helps my confidence as a man, but it also has it's disadvantages. For example, I was deer hunting this past weekend and was wearing a camo mask over my face. To say my beard itched while wearing the mask would be a huge understatement. It was very uncomfortable and I blame that and that alone for my lack of success in the deer woods.
This past weekend was also a huge weekend for the kids at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, as the St. Jude Give Thanks. Walk. took place in 90 different cities across the nation. Springfield was one of those cities and I was lucky enough to be asked to co-emcee the event like I did in it's inaugural year of 2011. It was just as rewarding for myself and even more rewarding for the kids this year, as the community of Springfield raised over $26,000 for St. Jude compared to $19,000 last year!
At this year's event, I heard several parents of St. Jude patients speak and they echoed what you always here: St. Jude is a great place, where families never pay for care thanks to public contributions. Being able to see a lot of those kids who were once or are still St. Jude patients having a good time running around in Jordan Valley Park was awesome. Unfortunately, there are some kids who aren't healthy enough to do that. That's where we come into play. St. Jude needs our help. The kids need our help. I ask that you donate to my No Shave November page and help support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, so eventually, all kids will be healthy enough to play.
