A Taste Of Nashville In Springfield

  • Print

I've been to Nashville twice in my life. There are several things I love about it. All of them are because of my love for country music, so when I hear about something happening in Springfield, that usually happens in Nashville, it makes me happy.

I know a few people who have moved to Nashville to pursue musical careers. It seems like at least one of them is posting on Facebook about going to a songwriters event every night. This is a night where several songwriters get together and play songs they've written. It's not a huge stage production, it's raw. And it's awesome.

Well, an event like this is happening in Springfield tonight at Tier 3 on E. Republic. It's called "Pickin' on Springfield; A Songwriter Showcase" and I wish I could go, but I'll be at work. Sounds like it'll be a great night. According to the Facebook Event Page, it'll start at 8pm and will have the following performers:

Cole Porter (Cole Porter Band)
Kendra Edmonds (Cole Porter Band)
Brad Harter (Dirt Road Sinners)
Chance Ray (Dirt Road Sinners)
Arron Batson (DRS, Red Dirt Underground, Gunshot Lizzy)
Jen Kean (Black Bonnet Ballyhoo)
Abbie Benton (Black Bonnet Ballyhoo)
Ryan Colvard (Big Damn Heroes)
Will Maples (Highway 413)
Dillon Page (Highway 413)
Jarrod Wilhelm
Tyler Giles

I've heard several of these artists and I'm very sad that I'm going to miss it. So, go for me and have a good time supporting local music!
